longsince

How far apart things really were

Terms

longsince is provided as it is, for interest. Dates are checked as described under where the dates come from and corrected when they turn out to be wrong, but nothing here should be relied on for anything that matters.

Reuse

The underlying dates and labels come from Wikidata under CC0 and are free for anyone to use. The claim sentences, the drawings and the site itself are ours. Where an image carries its own licence, that licence is named beside it and travels with the image.

The crowd data

Aggregate guess distributions are shown inside each item. If you want to cite them, cite them with the caveat that they come from people who chose to play a game about time.

Quoting this site

Quote a claim sentence, screenshot a timeline, or link to any page here, with a link back. That is what the drawings are for. What is not fine is republishing the site wholesale under another name, or feeding the pages to something that reproduces them as its own.

If something here is wrong

Say so. A date that turns out to be wrong gets corrected on the page it appeared on, with the correction visible rather than a quiet edit, because a page that changes silently is a page nobody can trust twice.
